Will do Willie. Next step is to relieve the floor pan where the clutch fork could potentially hit, cause it's that close when depressed. Then redrill the clutch rod hole on the pedal lowerer to give it a tad more throw. It'll also help the geometry from the rod to the upper Zbar lever. The angle won't be as much.

Honestly I don’t know how you guys manage to find any time to work on your cars. With family and jobs, I put my car hobby on hold for decades. I am impressed by all the multi tasking members. I figure some must never sleep.

I hear the both of yas. And I know all can relate. If nothing more, our car hobby gives us a reason to get outta bed. Even if they're only a dream, there's still hope for the future. Try ta stay healthy, so we can continue in our "golden" years. I use-ta joke about finishing my 73 as a retirement project. Now it's not funny.

P.S. After trying to finish my cherry countertop project, was pulled away to do "broken dryer" repairs. took over a week because you can't buy parts locally anymore. No-one carries parts, not even thermal fuses from electrical outlets.
Once that was up and running a few days ago, trying to get back to my counter tops, (tonite after work), my wall hanging bathroom sink drain pipe crumbles in my hand, while trying to snake out a clog. Of course not the easy P trap, but the one heading thru the wall.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel men. Got my last counter-top  glued up yesterday, so alls it needs is some finishing, install, farmhouse sink install, and finish plumbing. How long could that "possibly" take anyhow?  :???: (And spring has sprung, so garage time is getting justified) Hope all is enjoying the seasonal transition.

Here we are, (in new England), and the spring is in full force. The T/As were outside, (temporarily) whilst I was taking advantage of the nice weather, and clearing some space "behind" the garage.  Have a full exhaust leftover, and stored out there, and decided to put it "under" the 73, where it belongs. Should've put it up in place when I had removed the 73s 308 posi for Jack, and installed the 3.42 rear. Forgot it was out there.

(You know what they say, there's 2 things that happen in old age. One thing is you lose your memory. The other is..."I can't remember)

As for the 84, it's waiting patiently, and its time is coming soon. Sorry again for the delay.
(And now to go clean out, "inside" the garage.)

This car work is a hobby so you do it when you want to and when you can.

I know all about the senior years.  My wife and I went to Costco on Thursday and I dropped her off at the door and went to get gas.  So she was standing out in the parking lot waiting for me to pick her up.  A lady came up to her and said, “ Ma'am, can I help you find your car?”  That's when you can tell your getting older!

Call it respect and consideration, Bob. Up here in NE, a lot would've just driven by, and splash a puddle of water on her.

At least is it spring up there finally!  I've never enjoyed trying to work on a car when it is 20*.
You're right Mike. even with a "somewhat" insulated, and heated garage, it's tough to get out there. That concrete floor really holds the cold. But I would still stomach it, if I could find/make the time.

I look forward to seeing more progress on this engine swap!
Me too RG. We're getting closer. As mentioned above, mechanical clutch is the "continued" focus.
Thanks for chiming in guys. It helps get me "more" motivated.

I know it's been "way too long" since I've posted, but home priorities are eating me alive. Just curious about this site. Mike mentioned an issue with the format on some of us being screwed up. The screen is showing mostly (what I call), computer jibberish.
everything is stacked on top, with no real....I don't even know how to explain it. It's just weird.  Anyway, I've finally figured out how to post, and not sure about a few things. Will this reply take? And on my thread here, it seems it's a few pages short of my progress. I can't see a way to turn the page, if I actually did leave off at trying to mount the 301T into the chassis. I can up-date, if I get a notification saying this response is visible.

Hello Benny. Thanks for the response. Wasn't sure what's going thru here. I "am" on a PC, (don't have a cell phone), and really don't wanna change my browser. My 2 that I'm using is "Brave", (Only because You Tube shut me down, because of my ad blocker, but I can view YT thru Brave), and Google. (which I prefer not to use, but has more available info than most) I did have Firefox in the past for a while, but was talked out of it, for some reason...forgot. And right now, as I'm typing this, the line seems to be infinite, in that it keeps going to the right. But when I submit the post, it puts it in a paragraph. go figure.
Anyway, I was wondering if my thread has ended on trying to figure out the eng. mounting, which is all that I can see here. I've put in many more hrs since that, and thought I had posted my progress here. Can anyone tell me if there are more pages of photos, (past the eng. mounts, that are pictured above). thanks.
P.S. I was able to figure it out, and see that my progress has been entered here. Right up to the point of trying to modify the mechanical Z bar linkage. Hope to get some more time soon. Also hope this little enigma works it way out. OFN

Hello RG. Thanks for the interest. Funny you post here, because this site wasn't workin for me for over a yr now, but somehow has morphed itself back to normal. Very nice. And I've also been plagued with my photobucket account, and haven't been able to up-load any pics...until last week-end. Finally, things are gettin back to normal.

And my 84 I still dream about, and walk by it "daily", sitting, (in the garage), waiting for attention. And the only thing it receives, is being shoved outta the lift bay, so I can fix something automotive, that's broke, and needs it. But other "priority" projects continually get in the way, like my kitchen I opened up over a yr ago, and still haven't completed. Because distractions like holidays, (Christmas), and overtime at work, keep my projects "long term". The biggest 2 discrepancies in my life, are I only have 2 hands, and the clock is on super sonic. Just can't get ahead. But I'm sure most here can relate.

So my kitchen project is back in force, and I'm hoping for some conclusions,,,by spring?. I'll go out on a limb and say that. And now that the site is back to normal, I'll need-ta make time, and see who's still participating. See ya RG.

Above...some pics from the past. Just a little eye candy.

Yeah, still here. Sorry for the "minor" (?) delay. A buddy talked me into heading to the drags today, (Muscle Palooza wanna be), up-state NY, which meant time away from my kitchen project, which extends my time away from the turbo-bird even further.  And of course, after an hr and a 1/2 trip up-state, guess what? "RAINED!". It wasn't suppose to do that, today, or tomorrow. (Memorial Day. ) What a waste.

When we got back to my house, my buddy wanted to check something out on his car on my lift, and asked if it was available. "No", my 84 is STILL tying it up, because of days like this. Just can't get to it. I could say "no", to friends, family, and relatives, and spend time on my projects, but would be chatisized for neglect. So I'm tryin to balance it all. My friend asked me, "so where did you leave off?" The clutch, still tryin to complete that.
I'm on vacation this week, so I'm hoping for some home relief, and put this 84 back on the priority list. Hang tight men.

So I've heard, Dave. It would be nice tho, to get my home project done, because I'm tired of living in squander. Kind of embarrassing the condition of many parts of my home. Thing is, (like a few of you) I have a problem paying out my hard earned $ for labor costs, when I can do it myself. I know all about prioritizing, and time factors into that, but so does money. I'll be retiring here in a couple yrs or so, and want to make sure I have enuff $ to eat, when I'm older. I've become fond of that habit, and think it'll be a neccessary component to living longer, rather than having a better homes and garden display. But I still need to continue the attempt.

The dissappointing aspect of this 84 301T project, is there are only a few of us left, that can appreciate, or understand this car for what it'll be. The youth of America weren't around to experience what some of us were fortunate enuff to live thru, when the late 50s, to late 70s, (or even some early 80s) car hobby meant to a lot of us. It was a way of life. Some of us were consumed by it, and Detroit made sure to satisfy our crazy desires, in order to sell cars. There are a few younger enthusiasts today that are interested in these cars, but not like there was 40-50 yrs or more. Go to any swap meet, car show, or drags, and you'll mostly see us grey haired, (or even less hair) guys still participating, or at least spectating. Sounds depressing, I know, so I can appreciate the members on this site, and TAC for still keeping this spirit alive. Now I need-ta get back to my kitchen floor. OFN.

Sorry for the delay, FT. Guess I didn't get a notification. And that's not the only problem. I've been trying to post a picture of the T/A in its current state, but as usual, PhotoBucket is screwed up...."AGAIN". It won't let me past a page trying to sell me a subscription...that I already have. So I tried to post off of this site, (from my 'puter) but of course, it won't work either.  :-x
"Anywho", I have definitely not lost interest, but on top of my home projects in the way, I just got notified by my homeowners ins co., that if I don't do $50K worth of home repairs, (in 2 weeks) they're dropping me.
Guess it'll now force me to go to USAA, which I've wanted to for a few yrs now, anyway. Funny how in my entire life, (I'm almost 70) I've never put in a claim to "any" of my policies, and have always paid on time. Perect credit. Must be nice to have so much business, you can pick and choose your customers. (Creeps) Sorry to bore you, just wanted to let you fine people know, I haven't forgotten about you or my car projects, just seems the faster I run, the further behind I get. But thanks for the interest men. OFN.

Hey, I wuz able to contact PB, and they fixed the problem. I know, not much to look at, but it's been in my garage a while, and I needed the room inside, so I moved it back outside..."temporarily". I won't make the same mistake I made with my 73, and left it out...for 10 yrs. (It didn't take too kindly to it, but it too is back inside.)

Sorry to hear about the insurance troubles... That whole industry is a racket if you ask me. But glad to hear you haven't lost interest. I can't wait to see this car progress and get some road miles. Interested to hear how that goes.

Well, Joe, it is a hobby.  Get back to it when you can or want to.

I didn't get my car project done this summer either, but will do it next year.

Hopefully it's an east fix for your insurance! This is just one of those projects I'd really love to see get completed! Like you said though, most will never understand it or appreciate (less and less will) but I'm sure at a Firebird show, I'd get some attention.

Stay healthy and have fun!

Thanks men. 'Preciate the replys. And Luke, saw your deck building photos, and I see your birds have a healthy future, with your talents.
Keep up the good work.
And Bob, the future is all we have to look fwd to, right? It gives us a reason to get up in the morning.  As I get older I realize I need-ta have a better handle on allocating my time. I've realized quite a while ago, I'll never finish all my "current" projects B4 I die, so if I can just figure a way to work each one a little at  time, rather than trying to finish one big project at once. Because the monster time eaters take so long, and the "unexpected" ones always find a way to take away from them, I plan on making a list, and working it day by day. Now-a-days, I'm so overloaded with things- ta- do, I get confused on which direction to go. Like this ins debockle that just cropped up. All my current plans have-ta be altered to fit this new one in.
But I refuse to give up the ship on my car hobby. It's been on hold for way too long. I'll be gettin back into it sooner than later. Not only do I promise, but I'm determined. (Once I fix my house roof)

No more waiting men. My house will never finish, and I'm on the verge of retirement, (a year or 2), so I'm not pushing this aside anymore.
This weekend I'll spend more time on the clutch linkage, and see what needs ta be done. But I'm sure the work will be sporadic, but at least I'll be doin "something" with it. Sorry for the delays. Wondering if anyone is still left here.
