Leak
« on: February 20, 2026, 06:27:14 PM »
I had a Vintage air installed in my 78.  When getting ready to put the interior back in I noticed a leak inside running down the center of the firewall.  Im not sure where it is coming from.  I can't seem to see any holes.  Any ideas as to where to start?  Thanks

Leak of what, and what side, engine bay or under dash?

Two heater hoses. Two AC lines and the drain for the evaporator overflow are inside under the dash.  That's the only liquid lines with connections inside.  Im in the middle of a vintage air install and not impressed with the heater hose routing inside under the dash.

Yep, hose routing is not the easiest .  Also the corrugated air hoses can be a pain.   Would love to be able to work with some of these companies to address some of these types of issues.  Oh well, keeps me busy. lol

With Vintage Air installs, the evaporator drain is often the culprit for a firewall leak, make sure the drain tube is properly routed and that the grommet where it exits the firewall is actually sealing. And I think it's also worth checking all the heater hose connections and AC line fittings under the dash

We all have day jobs. How many months is a reasonable wait? No one else would even bother except it's still the most recent thread on the dead forum.
