Title: Cause of scratched windows
Post by: TA301 on July 20, 2026, 06:44:04 PM
Seems to be a common thing. Two scratches running vertically one towards the rear, near the felts and another towards the front. Nothing in the middle. I'll replacing both windows as soon as I receive new replacements next week. Is the cause worn felts?

Could be random speck or grit caught in the weatherseals but normally it lines up with the flock guide blocks which start to wear. There's also another guide just below the mirror area that supports the glass when half down.

Casting flash is the cause or at least it was in this case. The factory applied felt was slightly offset and once the felt wore out enough to expose the very sharp flash the result was scratched glass. Grade F
