I have a friend with a 75 TA that is looking for information on how the filler panel on the front end is installed. Does the front bumper need to come off for the removal of the filler panel?
-
Unfortunately, it's been 45 years since I have removed the front bumper from my 75 TA. I have absolutely no recollection as to what I did. I do have a 1975 Pontiac service manual that has good exploded diagrams of the front end. I should be able to post the pictures later today. Anyone who has a 1975 assembly manual might have better information. Possibly a 1974 assembly manual might help as the front ends are very similar.

I have very little on 74-75 in way of manuals, will check when get a chance.

Thanks, I looked online and found a couple of exploded views from the manual but they were not that clear, especially when I blew them up a bit.

I believe you are referring to what is described in the first drawing as the Urethane Extension. Down towards the bottom of the page they show it be held to the front end panel with screws and retainers. The drawing is only showing three screws but I believe there are many more all attaching it to the bottom of the front-end panel. While this drawing appears to show the fasteners it does not really explain what you would need to do in order to gain access. I apologize for not being able to offer more help, at least the drawings show how it is fastened. Since it is made from urethane, maybe you could take a feeler gage to one end and see if you can pull it out enough to see the bolts behind it.

A couple more very similar or same. I'm not sure what's involved to access the piece other than these explodeds.

Thanks for the pics. I talked to a guy at a show over the weekend that had a '74. He told me to take the front end/piece with the headlights, off to access the filler panel. He said it was a fairly easy job. I suppose just being the lights and not the entire lower front it may be easier than what I have experienced with 77 and 79 cars. The owner of the '75 that asked me to inquire seems to recall thats how he did it quite a few years ago when he restored the car. He is going to approach it that way.
