And you drive that car the whole way? The bug collection on the front end must be crazy by the time you get there.

That is totally awesome that you really drive it like that.

Yes- several years ago, we decided to drive them and stop trailering them. No sense in me keeping something up so that when I'm gone, the next guy gets to wear it out.  I'll do it myself

The kid down the road details cars for extra money.  He uses something on the front that is so slick, the bugs usually just wipe right off.

Amen!  Drive it like you own it lol.  Have a great time!  Mine will be doing alot more road trips in the coming years.  Going to the Pontiac nats in July, about an hour and a half away, will be the furthest I have taken it

Man, I'd really like to know what product works to help keep bug guts off.

Great to hear you drive your car everywhere. Maybe I'll get there someday. It's tough because my car has been with me for 39 years or more. She does have a stone chip or two but I am extremely protective of it. I do drive it but not like that.

Have a safe trip!

Oh that's cool Mike! Car looks clean! How far of a drive for you?

A lot closer than the Nats!  This trip is only a little over 3 hours.  When we go to the Smokies/Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for car shows or for vacations, that is 5 1/2 hours.  The Nats ride is between 6 1/2 and 7 hours.

Mike, let me know when you go next time and we might be able to coordinate something. My sister-in-law lives about halfway and I could stay there overnight and go to one of those shows.

I've researched concessions for that kind of thing. When I do the restomod build on my '79 in the future, it's going to see a lot of highway miles and I've been looking into ways to minimize the amount of paint damage that is inherent to high speed driving.

You got track armor https://www.amazon.com/TRACK-ARMOUR-100-Motorcycle-Off-Roading/dp/B07F3DW4TQ/ref=asc_df_B07F3DW4TQ?mcid=7f6824b0297a339aa2b9e3ac318185c9&hvocijid=3562863375331585983-B07F3DW4TQ-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3562863375331585983&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1015055&hvtargid=pla-2281435179258&th=1 - This is essentially a temporary PPF that you apply to stone chip prone areas and it peels off with ease leaving no residue.

You got bras, of course...

You also got clear plastidip which is meant to be peeled off, and it's rubberized so it more readily deflects road debris.

Or if you don't care about how the car looks on the highway, you can always do what the guys do at the track and slap masking tape on the car.
