I don't check Craigslist vary often, but maybe once every month or so. I found a listing for an ad that was very basic saying something like Nomad and other parts. I saw in the ad that she had taken a few pictures of a rear tailgate, some tailgate bars, then I spotted a pair of eyebrows in the listing! Now if you have been following along with my build, I just recently found a pair of aftermarket aluminum. But when it rains it pours I suppose. Her price was amazing given the parts I could see, but still at a price point where it kept away the folks that weren't serious. I called her up and made a deal, but when I got there I was surprised by how many other parts and their condition!

And here's the borderline holy grail. They aren't in the best condition, but I have certainly seen much worse. The studs are broken off in the back, but that's how most are from what I have seen.

We did a fairly quick transfer when I bought the parts so I didn't have a chance to take a mental inventory of the parts. When I got home I just kept being surprised by the condition and quality of the parts in this collection.

And now to the good parts!!

Here is the "piece of glass" she was referring to!!

NOS Rear Tailgate Seal

After talking with the lady a while while we were transferring the parts to my truck, I came to realize that she had inherited these parts after her father passed away in 2016. They had been in dry storage since then, and this was basically his life's collection of parts. Pretty humbling and in many ways is an honor to comb through the parts to see what he had collected over a lifetime. Some of the manuals and parts catalogues were actually dated/printed before I was born!

Hope you enjoy the photos. I'll take more as I continue to unbox everything.

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryan, looks like you hit the jackpot! I’ll bet the Ladies father is smiling about now, knowing his parts went to a real nice build. Another scenario is his daughter could have said, 70 year old car parts, not worth anything and tossed them in the trash.
