New Toy, I mean equipment
« on: April 28, 2025, 04:52:44 AM »
We have a farm we are down sizing here in Ohio.  We were a goat dairy that sold cheese, milk, soap, and fudge but due to bad hips (wife) and back (me) we are shutting it down.  We will keep a number of our favorite goats to retire and live the good life as they have done their jobs and now deserve it.  I feel an odd loyalty to them to not just auction them off, most we have raised from babies.  Anyway, to help clean the pens we bought a Kubota U10 Excavator as doing the pens by hand it hard on the back.  Oddly, and thankfully, this was actually the wife's idea!  We were looking at the cheap Chinese ones, but since we already run all Kubota equipment and have had very good luck with them, we went the extra mile and got this.  It will have a fairly easy life as far as excavators go and will easily last me the rest of my life.  I get it Thursday.

Jealous!  That is awesome.  Every time I rent one, I try to convince myself to buy one.  But if I get another piece of equipment with an engine- it will probably be a Kubota SV95 skidsteer.  I could use it for more kinds of work.  Congrats on the trackhoe.   :-D

I would LOVE a SV95, however I needed something to go through a standard doorway and this fit the bill.  I rented one a week ago to make sure it fit inside the barn. =)

Looks like a lot of fun, use it in good health! This might be a piece of equipment you wonder how you ever managed without.

We have a Kubota dealer about two miles from my house and we live in a suburban area, although still rural areas not far. It seems like this brand has really grown in the last ten years.

I have a little Kubota BX26 and its my go to.  I have used it for some many different projects over the years.

Congrats, and like others have said I am sure you can find plenty of usage for that. When I was in business with my brothers we had a few pieces of yellow iron. A couple of backhoes, skid loaders, many man lifts, big trucks, etc. I never had a want for heavy equipment and when I needed something cleaned up or moved around the house it was never a problem. We closed the business and sold everything. I did keep the all terrain fork lift. I long for a decent skid loader  I have someone stop by probably once every 2 months wanting to buy my machine, I think about selling it and getting a skid loader but at this point I dont know if either one would be used too often. I have thought about buying a dingo because we do use one of those often when building a deck from new. But I just end up renting when the job calls for it. No maintenance and I always have a nice new piece of equipment to use.
