Radnor Hunt Concours de Elegance

I went to the show at the Radnor Hunt a few weeks ago. Its a high end event but not quite to the level of Amelia or Pebble Beach. This years marque was Cadillac and they had some really nice ones there. Including the design team from that did the 67 El Dorado, bustle back Seville and the fellow that designed the XLR. Interesting to hear them talk about the process and what was going on behind the scenes.
The day before the show they had a road rally that my son and myself participated in with the Trans Am. It was about 4 hours long through the beautiful countryside of Chester Co PA. Along the way several stops at some interesting places. Most of the cars were late model exotics, maseratis, ferraris, porsches, there was a beautiful early 30's Packard and a late 20's Duesenburg. I think my lowly Pontiac was one of the few American cars there, but it seemed to draw attention wherever we went.
Beautiful sunny day for the road rally, rained like crazy all day Sunday for the show.

This 1966 Shelby Gt350 was owned by Chuck Cantrel. He was the lead engineer working alongside Carrol Shelby when the Shelby 350 GT was developed. He later was head crew chief for Roger Penske and Mark Donohue. He spoke during the event and I was able to get a one on one as well. He had some very interesting stories. His son drove this mustang in Saturdays road rally. It was definitely a driver car, no trailer queen by any means.

Definitely a high-end event, nice variety.
Honestly, I liked the Yenko Corvair the most. Maybe because I could afford a non-Yenko Corvair. I always wondered if Chevy was a just little less reserved in the marketing department, what the Corvair could have been.
Too bad it rained!

The Corvair was probable the most versatile platform that GM ever produced. It produced a coupe, sedan, convertible, station wagon, van and a pickup truck. I like the Yenko Stingers as well!

Def hoity toity, general admission is something like $125 (which is cheap compared to some other concours events). I got free passes and a nice goody bag as an entrant. I would not be going if I had to buy a ticket. Last weekend there was a similar event in St Michaels MD. My wifes boss is good friends with one of the original founders of that event and usually gets me tickets. I missed out this year though.
