Need some measurements
« on: August 13, 2022, 01:23:25 PM »
Hello guys!
I'm trying to fabricate the aluminum thermostat housing and I need to know the total height and the angle of the housing. I'm talking about the almost vertical type of housing which is specific for TA. So,  if someone can take the measurements I will really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Ben!  But I'm almost done with this little project so I can't give up now. The next step is to weld these two pieces together and I need to know the right position.

I can't find my spare, which makes me think I probably sold it and that's a worry.

The other is on my car, where I may be tomorrow. Can try and check but close to impossible to get any accurate figures with hoses on and my engine is busier than stock.

Unlike the standard 45 deg water neck, this version also tilts towards the radiator hose side.

Impossible to get anything off my own engine, no access to any useful angles. By comparing a few side-on photos I have saved, the outlet is angled to 20 degrees from vertical. The side tilt can be measure off the photo above, you can see where the centre line casting continues down the base onto the flange. The outlet length basically forms a square with its diameter.

I may be out in left field for suggesting this but, why don't you just buy one and then you'll have all the information you need.

I thought about that, but the first guy asks 74$ to ship the item to Europe, the other one doesn't ship at all(talking about the eBay links above). So,  it's easier and cheaper to ask :-)

Ah, makes more sense now.

Ironically, both of my good water necks were sourced separately from the US and shipped at great expense as original had pinholes. Otherwise, I guess this thread would still have one post.
