Super Duty Shaker Scoop ID
« on: July 29, 2022, 04:11:00 PM »
Hi - Picked this up in a lot of parts and being new to Trans Ams (have a 79 with an Olds 403), not able to accurately verify the shaker. It has a part number of 491982 which according to the site below fits the 400 or 455 and has the bolts for the intake portion so 1973-1976. I also have the base but have not found a part number on it yet.

Is this a Super Duty Shaker or just one for a 400 or 455? How can I tell or any other good websites to check as this one seems to have lost its history...

Thanks!

From my experiences the 70-72 are specific because of how they attach to the breather pan and having the flapper door. 73-76 are the same. I think the way the opening cover is rivited factory for an early 73 since 72s were open.

At one time there was a great write up on shakers here, sorry that one is gone. I am not a S/D guy but if that fits 455 maybe it could be used for super duty motors?  I know the internals were different but cant imagine the shaker would have been.
