79 Firebird sales video
« on: December 12, 2021, 09:45:08 AM »
I know this was posted a while back but I want to put it out here again since the site melt down lost some threads.  Unfortunately the quality is not desirable but it is pretty cool if you can tolerate it.

Thanks for the post. From the background noise and video quality it was probably a home 8mm movie camera recording from a TV. Regardless of the quality I still enjoyed. No doubt Pontiac’s success with the Trans Am in the late 70’s was helped a lot by Burt Reynolds and Smokey and the Bandit. O

Back then the dealers had a table top film projector.  It projected the image onto a translucent screen from behind (kind of like the big projection TVs back in the 90s).  The film was in a cartridge that plugged into the projector.  This video was digitally recorded from that projector.

I saw this video back when I ordered my 79.  Notice the TATA has the snowflake wheels rather than the turbo wheels.

This is the projector that was used.
