water leak when opening doors
« on: September 22, 2022, 04:02:40 PM »
1978 ta with fischer t-tops
just wondering if anything can be done
occasionally get caught out when it rains
if you open the door it dumps a load of water onto the seat from the front t-top channel
no leaks when driving, seals seem ok, but the t-top seal does not butt up hard against the hull seal, should it?
looks like a design issue
but surely customers would not have accepted this back in the day
obviously hardtops have a sort of gutter that deflects the water back

That's the way it is.  And yes owners just dealt with it.  The decor package gave you chrome gutters but that was completely for looks and was not functional.

Can you se the water sitting in the channels, like if car has just been washed or left in the rain? If that's the case you could have a thin wedge of sponge and dab around the channel soaking it up prior, only to limit it. If you can't see or access it...no idea.
