Seat Belt Removal
« on: April 06, 2025, 01:37:13 PM »
Is there a trick to getting the seat belt bolts out? I got the rear driver side bolt out, and the front passenger side by the door. The rest will not budge. I put my heavy duty impact gun on them as well as a small breaker bar

Are you referring to the belt receiver bolts next to the console or the anchor bolts by the door sill plates? I recently completed the interior of my TA and did the seat belt portion. I had no problem getting any of the bolts out. Just used a 12" ratchet [3/8] with the appropriate low-profile socket. a breaker bar definitely should have loosened it. I had more difficulty reinstalled them than removing them mainly because you must get the bolts to thread in dead straight otherwise it will not thread in.

Mine were a bear to remove also, a little pb blaster and just kept trying. Once they broke free they came right out easy.

Shouldn't be any real trick, must be just years of dampness and corrosion in the threads. Soak it from underside, work back and forth. Probably exact what you've already done.

Thanks. I was thinking about heat, but of course I have the insulation put down on the floor  I also thought about PB blaster. I will give that a try at first.

Try to spray them from underneath the car too.

If you start to strip the torx (I know it's actually not a torx but something close) use vice grips on tumhe head in conjunction with the star. Just replace the bolt after, but better to use both and get it out than totally strip the star and not have that to help.
