I am thinking of returning a trunk lid due to the corner being bent during deliver. Before I do, I’d like to get the opinion of you experts. Is this something that’s considered minor and likely to happen again: does a paint and body shop to fix it. Or should I return and get another one?

I dont know about you but I work hard for my money, when I buy something I expect to get a quality product. If thats the last one to be found and its going to take awhile for replacement then I may reconsider. Another consideration is who is going to fix it? If you are paying a body guy then the amount of extra work needs to be considered against any cost associated with a return. I would expect the supplier to cover all return cost if the product came to you damaged but they may want you to cover the return shipping, which I would think may be expensive. Another option, they may offer a discount to you for a damaged part, again if that offsets the price for extra work then that would be fine with me as well.

I too would go back to JEGS and ask for a replacement part. Was the outside of the box showing signs of damage from shiping? They need to know if parts are not being packaged well enough to survive the trip. Aftermarket body panels often need some tweaking to make them fit right, but you want to start out with something as close to original as possible.

I had a windshield shipped across the country from Minn. to MD. Wrapped in about a hundred yards of bubble wrap, cardboard and peanuts. No problem at all, and it wasnt even marked fragile. You would think they could ship sheet metal without damage.
