Title: Quickjack
Post by: Mac on August 11, 2021, 06:56:48 PM
Anyone have and/or used a Quickjack? I’ve been doing a lot of research and it seems like a good quality car lift.
I’m about to make the purchase but wanted to ask all of you first.

I don't have any experience with them but Home Depot out of all places had them as "deal of the day" few days ago.

Thanks Jack, I’ve priced them out seems Costco has the best price but I didn’t check out Home Depot.

Performance years has a lengthy thread regarding them if I remember right and I believe the general consensus was positive

I bought some about a year ago, and love them. As Jack had suggested, I also bought mine from Costco. I think I saved somewhere around $400 on mine. It helped that I purchased mine around Christmas, so that it helped me save a bit more money as well. I think the only downside I can find with the product is that they are a bit heavy. I guess that is to be expected, but it was a bit of a surprise since I wasn't sure what to expect.

For me, storage was a bit deal because I don't have a ton of space to work with. Quickjacks sells hooks so you can stand them against the wall. If you are cheap like me, I just 3D printed some hanger for myself so they stand straight and take up less room. I also did the same thing for the hoses, and made a hook setup for them.

Overall a great product and will likely never go back to a jack and jack stands. I would recommend going for a higher rate capacity if you can, as I have found it useful; meaning 5000lbs over 3000lbs, or 7500lbs over 5000lbs.

I have had really great success with quick jacks. I bought a set several years ago and use them quite a bit. In fact I have used them in just about every stage of restoration on my last couple of projects. I use them because the shop floor I have is asphalt so I cannot install a traditional lift. I highly recommend them.

With tax free weekend in MA (yes we have that here once a year) I'm seriously thinking of getting one as well. Costco has a 5000Lb for $1200 and a 7000Lb for $1400 both on sale I'm assuming $200 extra for 2000Lb more is well worth the extra price?

Well I ordered them. I went with the 5000 lbs. I decided to go with Home Depot, best price. I don’t have a Costco membership so when you go to check out they charge you $60 extra.
Total price for the 5000 lbs was $1225.00
Once I get them and set them up I’ll report back on my opinion.

For anyone else concerned about the traditional 2 post lifts, that require a stiff floor, you can do what I did. My garage floor was irregularly poured, and varied from 2" to 4" or so. I forgot what was recommended, so I rented a diamond saw, cut out a 3-4' chunk of flooring in the 2 places, and used long J-bolts in Sona-tubes. (About 20" deep). Then wired the hole with concrete mesh, and dug out under the original floor for the new concrete to set up under. I got a good deal on a 2 post lift from the Pratt and Whitney store. They were using a 4 ton lift, for 55 gallon drums. (But you know how that is). It's an A symmetrical lift, and I was worried about the load placement, so I made the frt hold down bolts longer than the rear. I've had it up for over 10 years, or more, with many a dually vehicles, and so far, so good.

My leased work floor is rather sketchy, so I welded some ears on a lift and braced it to the roof structure with heavy 1-1/4" conduit - worked very well.

Took about an hour to put together and set up
First lift no issues no leaks ran smooth
Next clean my garage so I can get around and work on the TA
