Looking to replace the old and out of date 245/60R/15 tires that will be mounted on the stock honeycomb rims on my 1976 Trans Am with PTFB GT suspension kit and solid body bushings.The car is lowered about 1.5" to 2". I want to go to a wider tire, like a 255/60R/15 or even wider but don't want to run into an issue of rubbing. I don't want to make the mistake and buy the tires and find out after the fact that there will be a problem. Any and all input would be appreciated.

255s will not be a problem and I think are the perfect size/ fit for 2nd gens.

I am pretty sure that is the size of the tires on my 77, but I do have 8" snowflakes. I agree with Jack as far as fitment.

If you already have 245 on 15x7 then should have fairly good idea how 255 will look. Probably on the limit between a good fit, not too bulgy and handling.
Also, 255 on the front brings it close to fender edge. That can look weird on some when same size is tucked in at the back. You could get just 2 fitted if unsure, check clearance on the front, then on the back, and then on same side. If a happy chappy...go for it.
