Hi all,
Need some help please
My 79 with the 350 Chevy motor won't start. The motor swings, but there's not enough spark.
I did a few measurements. First ignition switch gives 11.5v to the coil. When starting, the motor swings, and the voltage drops to 8v
Now I understand that there should/could be voltage drop because of the resistor wire. As I understand there should be a bypass when cranking the motor in order to get 12v.
Now I can't figure out where I missed this wire or where it's located.
What am I missing?
Thanks

If I had to guess I would think that your wires from the battery to the starter and/or the ground wire is rusted or not making good contact. I would start at the battery and make sure your cables are good and the connection at the post is solid. Next I would check the grounds, if all checks out it should start by jumping it.

Thanks Jack!
It's alive!. Cleaned off the ground wire again and fiddled with the starter ground, retighten. Then Bam!
