Hello I am looking for advice for what I can use for a spare tire in case of roadside issues. From what I can see it looks like I can buy a spacesaver (inflatable or not) from ebay for $500 or try and find some rallys or snowflakes from marketplace and put tires on one and put it in the trunk. Then try and find a jack OE? or recommendations wanted. Does a full size tire and rim fit in the trunk?
Anyone using a spare from another vehicle that is compatible?
Any advice appreciated I want to have confidence I can fix a flat. I had two tires down two years ago on my old tires. Then last year when a valve gave up so i feel jinxed and the folks are telling me I should have a spare and on my third tow I couldnt argue with that!
Thanks
Jon

I never carried a spare tire (I have AAA). I was on my way to a Pontiac show and there was a firebird sitting along side of the road with a flat. Guy was just sitting there like he didnt have a spare. I felt bad for passing him but there wasnt anything I could do. I made up my mind then that I would carry one.
I have a couple of sets of spare wheels, so I cleaned up a 7" snowflake that I have, got a new tire installed and I carry that with me when I travel. I went to Harbor Freight and bought a small scissor jack and a 4 way lug wrench. If Im just running around town I keep them in the garage. I have a better level of confidence if I travel an hr or so away with these in the trunk.
A full size tire does fit, and there is a little bit of room for a small cooler, detail bag etc.

when i restored my wheels
i bought an extra 245/60-R15 tire on an 8" snowflake
it would not fit in the trunk
so i had a 225/70R15 mounted on the rim
which fits in the trunk
i also carry some (bunjee cords) elastic tie-downs so i can put the flat tire in the trunk
but wont be able to close trunk lid

Why doesn't is fit in trunk? Thick carpet or too much gear? I posted this before somewhere. I have a 245/60 on a 15x8 that fits. I also have 255-45 on 17x9 that fits. My 285/40 on a 17x9 fits but not in stock anchor location but trunk centre. After all, no point carrying a spare if your largest or even smallest current wheel on car doesn't fit when swapped.

just could not get 245/60R15 into trunk
would not make the angle to fit it in
touch wood
not had a flat yet
but good to know i can get out of trouble if need be
