Looking online for period correct Recaros for the T/A, I came across this ad. Not being an expert in late 2nd gens, I figured I’d ask. Are those real Recaros or fakes? If real, I wonder if this is a scam, since the average pair of Recaros are listed for over a grand. Maybe the color is a detractor?
Thanks.

Very hard to tell without looking at the adjustment mechanisms on the side. If they are real and you decided to recover them, expect to pay $$$$ to have the front and rear seats done. Just to be clear, the Recaro’s would be the front seats, the rears are probably stock that have been recovered.
I bought these about 8 years ago for $450. Reupholstered the rears to match.

Another pic with the rear in view.

These are mine that were never installed until I got them. Note the release to tilt them forward for back seat access. I don't see that on the Ebay seats. Poster says Recaro 'style'. Maybe ask for a few more pics?

I know there was a third gen Recaro Trans Am maybe in '83? (had a buddy bought one new), but did not some of the later 3rd gens have these style seats? Are you hung up on the name or would you be happy with a new set of seats. I like the look of those but unless the colour pattern is good they will cost a good bit to reupholster. I always like the recaros with the open mesh headrest. Kinda cutting edge at the time. There was a set in my 77 when I got it and they were the first things I jettisoned! They did need recovered. I traded for a NOS 74 quarter panel that I later sold (way too cheap) to fund parts needed.

I am not hung up on the name as much as the period correct look. A lot of the newer seats look way out of place in the car, IMHO, either with too much bolstering, or 5 point harness cutouts in the back. The fishnet style Recaros look like they belong, especially if I have either the backs reupholstered to match, or the Recaros reupholstered to match the original rears.
I might ask the seller for more specific pictures.
Thanks for the insight guys.

I would have no problem at all using those seats, but would have to reupholster as the colour doesnt match.

I'm going to say no, they're some sort of derivative. He's also specifically said "Recaro Style" which to me says, cheap online copy seats re-trimmed. The headrest shape and frame shape just seems.... off.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I think I am going to pass on these and look for real Recaros.
Thanks.
