Title: 2023 Nationals
Post by: firebirdparts on March 15, 2023, 09:50:23 AM
Who's goin?

I'm trying really hard to convince Brian to take his gold edition, but he's going to have to pump himself up a little.  It's got a noisy carrier bearing, but we have lots of extra axles sitting around here.  No need to go through setup unless he just wants to.

In the interest of full disclosure I am staying at Hilton Garden Inn close to the foot bridge this year.  I make full use of that footbridge.

I might be able to run down this year for a day trip. I live in a suburbs of Toledo, so it's not too far. I'd live to drive my car but I'm not sure I could handle parking it somewhere and walking away.... The drive would be fun though!

There are a few "depends" in the Keller plans for this year. I'd like to plan to go but can't make any decisions for a couple months. It would be good to see everyone and Old School is always up for a good trip.

Banana car must be a universal nickname for a yellow trans am.

It's actually my license plate.  Had that plate for years.

The Trans-Am Nationals are on my short list of must-attend shows.  I was gonna go this year, but ended up planning a two week vacation in July.  So, I'm not sure I'll have the time and money for the 500Mi. trip from Philly this August.
That said...I registered and was all set for a weekend at the GM Nationals in Carlisle next month.  But, I ran into a problem with my TTA (rather...A problem ran into my TTA). As a result, I'm not sure if I'll make the GM Nats in Mid-June.  I may be able to apply that time and $$ to the TA Nats instead.  Either way I'm a "probably not" for the TA Nats this year.  More likely for 2024.

For those who don't know, the Trans-Am Nationals are in Fairborn, OH (between Cincinnati and Columbus...The far side from us here in PA).  The dates for 2023 are August 25-27.

Checking in as its getting close for you guys going. Had every intention on coming this year but, Sharlene has a hip replacement scheduled for the week after and its too much to get the house rearranged for in the short time. Its been 12 years since last Nats I've been to. Definitely on the radar for 2024. Those going, it's the fastest 3 days of your life, cherish it. Be safe, have fun!

Will be heading up as I have for so many years. Be in the 94 convertible like last year. Tipp City too.
Registered for both. Seem to recall I was #309 or something close.
Hope forecast holds out. Not arriving till Saturday morning.
Looking to sell the 81 and the 80. After the show I will want to change mind, but really need to go ahead and let ‘‘em go.
See y’all there.

Road construction in 3 places set us back over 2 hours, but we made it.
Title: TAC Winners at the 2023 Nats
Post by: kentucky yeti on August 29, 2023, 07:14:04 PM
Jeff (another10th) took another 1st with his beautiful CETA.
George (1sgtretired) took another 1st place trophy with his sweet '78 Trans Am.
Nick (motleyfan) scooped up a second place trophy with his BANANA.

I was a winner because I got to talk to all these guys, plus Rick (Rick) and his wife, John (Milly) and his bride, Joe (hoghead), Paul (Paul Kenney), and Mike (Fire-Am) and his wife Peggy.  Hope I am not forgetting any TAC'ers.  So much goes on all weekend that it becomes mass overload for my little brain.  Lots of nice hardware went home to our members.

Congrats to the winners. I am sure that is quite a feat amongst a sea of Trans Ams. Its good that you were able to catch up with old friends Mike.

X2 to what Rich just said.

This is definitely on my bucket list and a very doable drive for me. Maybe next year!

Right back at you, Mike. We also had a great time even without a car. All the old familiar faces are an inspiration to get back next year, hopefully with a car again!

Great show as always. Wish I could have ran into Paul K. Haven’t seen him in a few.
It was pretty hot Saturday.

Does anybody know how to get ahold of photographers that we’re taking shots after the tech line and Blair at Tipp City?

The gentleman taking photos after the tech line was Vern Cook. You can find him on Facebook with his beautiful red third gen Formula.

A lady actually took the photo and it wasn’t technically at tech line it was as I came out of tech and headed into show field. Same company?

It might have been his wife. She is the one who had all of the photos loaded on a laptop to show the winners at the awards ceremony. As I recall, it was near the driveway between tech and the show field. They are not a "company", but rather club members. If it wasn't them, I'm sure Vern would know who it was.

At the 15:20 mark is the group of us that drive up together.  Brandtlee Brown's (dreamn2's son) silver 1976 Fire Am, Jeff Brown's (dreamn2 on TAC) blue 1979 Fire Am, my '77 SE, Danny Manning's yellow1979 400 Formula, and TAC's Mike and Robin Winkleman's award-winning 1977 brown Trans Am.

They are.  And they still let me park my old, bad-paint, bubbled-lowers, dirty engine bay car with them!  They aren't afraid of touching mine and getting tetanus
