Title: Modulator replacement on TH350
Post by: DeVilliers on September 21, 2022, 12:41:07 AM
Morning all,

I needed to replace the vacuum modulator on the TH350.
It's was real simple to do, so perhaps this is a silly question.

Will any oil run out if I pull the modulator out of the gearbox? Should there be oil running out or not?
When I pulled it off, about a quart of oil came out. The interwebs are not very clear on the issue, so I don't know if it's normal.

Was it perhaps just to full?

Thanks

If the car is sitting level or front end slightly lower, very little oil will come out, maybe an ounce. If the car is jacked up with the nose in the air and rear tires lower, you get quite a bit of oil.

Check the trans oil on the dipstick. This should be done with the car sitting on level ground, the engine should be warmed up and running. You should not run the transmission over filled as it can cause oil aeration.

Also, the rubber hose at the modulator end and intake/carb end should be replaced at the same time. unless recently replaced.
