TATA 45th anniversary
« on: February 18, 2024, 09:34:40 AM »
From what I have gathered today (Feb 18, 1979) is the 45th anniversary of the Tenth Ann. Trans Am.  The first one was built in Jan of '79, the official debut was the running of the Daytona 500. Unfortunately for the nascar people looks like todays race may be rained out.

Happy 45th anniversary! The 10th anniversary TA was kind of what I thought would be the last gasp of the Muscle car. Kudos to Pontiac for throwing everything at the 10th anniversary car. From saving a stash of TA 6.6 engines built in 1978, to a very elaborate and probably expensive paint scheme. The leather interior with embroidered Firebirds exclusive on the 10ths. While other manufacturers we’re pretty much building decal muscle cars, Pontiac continued to refine the Firebird handling and braking capabilities.

Back in 1979 I never could have dreamed the power, handling or refinement that cars achieved today. So while modern replacements are superior in almost every way I am still a sucker for 2nd generation TA’s and the 10th anniversary cars.

My brother in law has a tenth anniversary in his lean to . Had it since 1980. Gonna redo it one of these days. Every time we visit I have to go and look at it, a real diamond in the dust

The interior is my favorite feature of the TATA leather was not common in any muscle/sports car.
