So I have decided that I want to swap my car over to manual. I have bought a manual transmission hump. Is it possible that anyone has any measurements to help locating it on the tunnel? I do not have a
transmission yet, so I cannot mock it up. I would like to do this now while I have the car on a rotisserie before paint, but understand if it is not possible to do until later. When laying the hump on the
tunnel it does seem to self locate but want to be sure before welding in. Thanks in advanced for any help.

When I did mine I installed the manual console I believe to help locate the hump.

I'm interested too. I'll be doing the swap as well to my formula. When I did my TA when I was a kid, I used a Sawzall and pliers..... no hump... I put it back to an auto years later so it was nice that all of the metal was still there just folded back... Not a recommendation now...

I actually just did this. It does somewhat self locate. That's about all I did, too. Long as nothing looked overly out of place. Oh, that, and I did have the shifter there as a guide. Put it in reverse and see how much space is between the shifter and the tunnel hump. Same with 4th gear.
Tack weld, seal, and call it good.

I think I would use the console as a guide. My interior is out and I can get pics and measurements for you. What kind of transmission are you using and does that make a difference? I dont know :shock: I assume you will be going with a 5 or 6 speed?With all of the options out there and the skyrocketing price of a t10 4 speed I think I def. would upgrade. I really wanted to on my car but I feel IF there is any value in my car its in the original drive train.

I has to go out and rebuy a ST10... It cost me more than double what I sold mine for... But ya, stock ST10 so stock location. I don't have a console yet so I was going to use the trans once I got it in. Not sure what tue original poster is installing though.

I was looking at going with the super t-10 4spd. However I have not purchased yet and do not have a manual console yet. I really would just hate to start hacking back into the car after painting it.
I have a 1980 assembly manual and 1981 Pontiac service manual but don't see anything shown. Assembly manual is a reprint and I suspect some pages maybe missing.

I found a few variations of Auto measurements, not the manual yet. I know they exist.
Not sure if you have a used original or repro manual hump but others have also said it's easy as you can line the dimples up on each of them as the same. Not sure what they are for, console mounts perhaps. I see my own auto floor has many unused dimples around the shifter area. I think the repro humps are only just the surrounding lip, whereas the dimples apply more for a floor cut.
Some of these ads may be useful, like underneath seeing where the cut edge was.

Thanks Ben, I screen shot some of those pictures. I'm just going to buy a repop hump. I guess I'll try to install the transmission (tough with the shifter already on.... and then locate the hump from there.

Luke, depending on your approach I’m not sure if you’ll be able to install with the shifter. When the time comes if I can help in any way let me know. It’s been 8 or 10 years since I swapped mine but I’ve also pulled my trans several times since, rebuilt my shifter, etc.

With the t10 even with the handle off the linkage where it attaches is above the floor pan. Def needs cut to install. I will try to get some pics and measurements today sometime. I was too tired when I got home from work yesterday.

Have you given any thought to using a TKX?
If so, the shifter is in a different place.
