Does this look right?
« on: September 18, 2022, 01:08:15 PM »
It doesn't to me. Looks like too much of the tabs are showing.   Should the headlight plug be closer to the bulb? Mine won't push on that far.

Maybe more than an inch?  They won't go further because of those little tabs sticking out halfway down. If those tabs were missing, im not sure how far down the connector would even go

That looks normal to me given they are pushed on up to those tabs. That's what they are there for, to positively stop the tabs from going further into the terminal and possibly causing damage.

I was expecting the connector to click on to a tab to lock it on more securely. The connector comes off very easily.

The terminals on the plug side are probably worn. I'd try and get a pick in there and try to bend the terminals up slightly to give it more tension when plugged in. You can also de-pin the wire terminal from the plug by depressing the tang that holds it into the connector. It should slide out and you can have full access to it.

That does not look right to me. The plug is not on far enough, that's why it slides right off again. Does the other side look like that too? Take it apart to get a better grip on it and try again. There should be about three eighths inches between the back of the light and the front of the plug.

Looks like someone J/B welded those tabs on there.  Are those the OEM tabs?

I don't think it's 100% right otherwise NY81TTASE would not have started this thread.  Too much of the tab is showing.  Easy to short out and blow a fuse.

Sorry to be so late getting back...

All 4 lights are brand new from rockauto and all 4 fit the same way.  End result...I think there is nothing I can do about it except hope they don't vibrate off.

Look like they are likely designed to fit a few similar but still different applications/plugs.

If I remember correctly there is a secondary cap attached to the plug.

I'm interested to see what that would look like
