It may be the cam is bad?  I have taken apart a few columns and do not remember there being any adjustment. It seems to me everything locks into place. There may be a millimeter side to side but I dont think there is any alignment or adjustment built into them for fine tuning.

I find it interesting and agree with you Luke on the restoration part. I wonder (and assume)if it was done on camaros as well. I was at the camaro nationals last year and they have a ultimate tier award for restoration. Kinda like the bloomington gold for vettes (i think its called something like that). One has to submit their car in advance as they only have time to judge/inspect a small percentage of the cars at the show. The entire process takes several hours per car. They have a lift to put the car on, and they check numbers on everything for correctness. I would like to see them remove the trim and look for the cover, LOL.

Never been to the T/A nationals so I dont know if they do inspections to this level as well.

No worries, I can pull mine - I was just being lazy to see if anyone could remember replacing their cam...I'll probably just pull the hub and be 100% sure the cam isn't damaged; it is about 20 years old...

I wonder if PTFB Dave can provide some updates since he's a 'sponsor' and keeps getting free plugs.

Sorry if that came across wrong.  That was supposed to be a compliment.

Very cool.  I also have the PTFB GT suspension but the one item I didn’t get were
the control arms.  I’m curious how much difference they make over the stock ones.

If nobody else responds I’ll try to take apart the spare column I have. It’s been a few years since I pulled one apart and I can’t remember how the cancelling cam is oriented or if it can be repositioned.

I concur with all of the above. I would set the door body line high to the quarter panel and remove the striker.

Well, I could swear I've tried that.  Then again, I'm pretty sure I was getting aggravated by my lack of progress and having too many unknowns - and that alone is enough that I'm sure I've missed something.

I'm going to give it another go here soon.  I have, however, been diving head on into the interior re-assembly.  I'd love to get at least the seats and the door panels put together before I start the door hanging aggravation again.

Just waiting on a few parts......

The usual mission creep set in.  I made another run to PTFB and picked up tubular uppers and the PTFB (longer) ball joints, as well as built lower arms.  Add those to the solid body bushings, the new front coils, the rear springs, and the Koni shocks- and I am pleased with the results.  Of course, it has a trip this week to be aligned, so it hasn't had a road run yet.  Oh yeah- the gas tank had top drop to get the bolts out of the rear springs.  That led to buying new tank straps (just because- no real reason).  The tank looked great inside and out.  When we fired it up, I had a gas leak.  One of the sender unit lines had cracked upon reinstallation.  I could have spliced it with a rubber fuel line (they did that from the factory to join lines) but...  What the heck.  So, while ordering a new sender, I also ordered a new tank.  If anyone needs a nice original tank, or lower arms, or upper arms, or a new set of upper ball joints that I ordered from RockAuto before going with PTFB longer ones...  I have a lot of stuff to get rid of LOL

It's interesting but I bet even a concourse restoration could skip installing those and no one should be the wiser.  The most interesting thing I read today was about the dipping of the part in primer in California vs spraying based on the year. Don't get me wrong I also enjoyed hearing about the cover plates but the fact you knew about the dip vs spay years and a certain plant. Just wow!
