Title: 1980 Dash turn signal indicator
Post by: 5th T/A on June 15, 2021, 07:24:55 PM
My plastic lenses on the dash turn signal indicators are disintegrating on my 1980 TA.

I found these lenses available from FBODY Warehouse, but they do not have the arrows. I recall on 1970 -1979 cars the dash had an arrow cutout, but 1980 and 1981 have a round circle with a black arrow printed on the green lens. Does anyone know of a source for the lenses with an arrow printed on? I think I could use my laser printer and print arrows on clear plastic and place the arrow behind the green lens. Or even try taping the lenses to a blank sheet of paper and run it through my printer. Or if I could find some green translucent paper/plastic stock, I could print it and cut it out. Anyone else have this issue?

The right side is mostly intact.

The left side disintegrated, came unglued and fell off. I have most the remnants.

Interesting, I never realized the dash bezel was different in this way on the later years. If you can't find the correct ones what I would do is get the green lenses you found, then buy some black adhesive vinyl from a craft store like Michaels, cut out the arrows, and apply to the lenses.

I never realized they had arrows on them.  I thought they were just green dots.

They be an easy custom water-slide decal as per model kits, applied to the rear so they only show up when lit and protect the face of the decal when cleaning. Can you see the arrow label on the face, and when not lit? Otherwise would apply to front, need to remove disc from dash to do properly and clear coat decal to protect. Depends if you need to see arrow when not in use.
