Longtime member has passed away
« on: January 14, 2024, 08:00:44 PM »
Gerald Snyder, aka gold79ta, passed away yesterday after a years-long battle with cancer.  He hasn’t been active for quite a bit, while going through treatments and the effects.  Some longtime guys here will remember him and his gold Trans Am.  You may even have met him at the Nats in years past.

I'm 36 years old, and strides are made every year in treating and preventing cancer. I sincerely hope that in the honor of people like Gerald, I'll lay witness to some sort of breakthrough for treating or curing this evil disease when I reach old age and am susceptible to it. Alas, it doesn't discriminate; it doesn't choose; and it may crop up in people who do everything right with their health and are even at a young age - true chaos manifesto. I remember occasional posts of his when I first joined here in 2008 (can't believe it's been that long) before my long hiatus, and he was a cool dude. My condolences to his family and I wish them the best as they battle through the grief.

Terrible to hear this news.  Man, I remember when the Year One 17” wheels came out.  I remember being younger and getting when he’d post about them all the time.  I hope he got them on his car at some point and was able to enjoy them.
