Rear Differential Bump Stop
« on: July 24, 2022, 08:12:09 AM »
Anyone know where to purchase a rear differential bump stop either new9can't imagine the rubber would still be good) or reproduction.  I took mine off and it is not in horrible shape but would like to replace it.   Looked at Ames, Classic industries and the only thing I found was this a Fbody warehouse.  It looks similar to this but slightly different as this is for a 67-72 and I have a 77.  It would probably work but would like to see if there are others that a more correct.

Thanks

Its been awhile since I have crawled under my 77, but I remember it looking like the one you posted. Maybe a bit more narrow?

Have you tried Firebird central? They deal in used parts as well, if its not on their website give them a call.

If you can't find one, you could always consider an alternate, or substitute option.  :-)

it's called a pinion snubber.

Huh have not heard that term, I looked it up on a couple of  the parts sights and did not come up with anything.

Thanks

The term pinion snubber has been around a long time. Mopar perfected them in the 60s, early 70s. Very rarely at the drags, did you see a Mopar with traction bars. Their rears were set farther fwd on the leaf springs, and the pinion snubber had an adjustable bracket or mount. Cured the spring wrap up problem us GM, and Ford people suffered with. But we had-ta admit, low hanging traction bars were just plain, "cool". (Even when you did bash them on everything on the street.)
