Electrical / Re: Steps to replace center dash speaker

I want to say it’s the same as the other. 192? Your center vents look different than mine. I have the piece with the vent deflectors that change the direction of the air and nothing behind them but the plastic duct. As I mentioned, I think I took mine out through the glovebox area. My replacement speaker didn’t allow for the factory placement of the center vent ducts so I’m positive I removed it in the process.

I’m curious. You have center vents but what appears to be a non-AC HVAC control

You’ve got a good eye- this is a non AC Trans Am that has aftermarket AC installed in it.  The brand is “Old Air” and leverages the non AC controls to run it.

All good, I was actually referring to this speaker pic rather than yours, in the 2nd gen section.

Haven't you got access to rear of gauges you just took out to check globe?!  I don't have one nearby to check.

Also I noticed my bulb was dead in the fuel/volt gauge cluster.  Do you guys know what size bulb goes there?

Initial surgery is complete - gauges are removed.  There are 2 bolts holding in the bracket (was expecting only 1).  Looks like there are nuts behind them holding them in.

Moving the center air ducts out of the way would make it a lot easier to get to.  To move them do I just need to loosen the bolt circled on the right?

Still not sure I can slide the speaker and bracket out thru the main gauge cluster.  Looks like a tight fit.  Do you guys think it’ll be easier to pull it out thru the passenger side/glove box area?

I was fortunate to meet George and talk to him over the years at the Nationals.
He certainly will be missed by the Trans Am community, and everyone that knew him.
Condolences to his family. Rest well, George.

Sorry to hear. I use to speak with George on somewhat regular bases and I am glad he made the Nats one last time. He will be missed and I know he'll be driving his red, white and blue cars in heaven.

Front and rear PTFB GT suspension (springs), new gas tank and sender, new lower arms and new tubular upper arms with the longer PTFB ball joints. Koni shocks all around.  PTFB aluminum solid body bushings.  Alignment and shims this morning.  Trying to ready it up for FirebirdFest 4 in a week.  Still have a few things I want to do to it before the trip.

Did you just replace the sender with a stock unit?  Do you have any needle fluctuations as you drive?  Mine seems to move about 1/4 tank back and forth as I drive.

I got home from 4 days of driving (FirebirdFest is a blast- I highly recommend it if anyone is interested in a show where you DON'T sit by your car all weekend, but actually take it on daily drives) and can give a report.  Yes, I bought a stock gas tank and sender from Firebird Central.  The gauge doesn't bounce around.  I checked mileage every time I fueled up (averaging almost 15 on road and town combined.  I decided to really test it on our way home yesterday.  I usually fill up at 1/4 tank.  Always have with all my cars, and did so this whole trip.  It would take right around 15 gallons, which is right for a  +/- 21 gallon tank.  On the way home, I ran it until the needle was thisclose to the uh-oh mark   19 gallons later, it was full.  So yes, it is (so far) accurate at any level and doesn't float around.

Thank you for the info!!!
