-
Sorry, can't figure out how to post pictures. Asked my daughter, she couldn't either.
-
I had to look up Big Nickle apparently it's 30 feet and in Greater Sudbury.
-
No worries steve 007, also i grew up in peterborough, small world.
-
Yes that would be the place!!!
Sudbury Vale mine is the largest Nickle producer in the world so years ago when it was owned by INCO they had built "The Big Nickle" shaped like a five cent coin and it is erected at what now is a tourist attraction, but then was one of the first mines built here in the city. The area was hit by a ginormous meteor several million years ago. so long ago that the crater hole is now oval! They have also found fragments of rock and debris as far south as Michigan and Ohio and other surrounding areas. It is one of the oldest crater impact sites in the world!
I'll see if I can get a picture up the Big NIckle

Oh no way!!
Very interesting!!

We Canadians are kind of silly having towns and cities with oversized random items that are somehow tied to the towns history. Here in Alberta we must have a dozen or more such items and I’ve see a bunch of them.
That nickel is one of the better ones, it looks sharp, nice picture.

Yeah...there are quite a few across country!!
