Source for this part?

Servicing the rear drum brakes and decided to change the rear parking brake cable(s). Old cables had a spring washer on the end where it goes through the backing plate, but new cables didn't come with replacements. Does anyone have a source for these spring washers?  I can't find them anywhere.

This is what the spring washer looks like. Thin spring steel bent in an arc.

I haven't seen those used, perhaps a different type of cable that required some packing and tension? Mine have always been like the photo with the staked tabs, and very firm getting that far.

Thanks for the input. For the old cables that came off, both had the staked tabs but different styles. One looked OEM and the other was the same as my new aftermarket. Both had used the spring washer.

I haven't tried installing the new cable through the backing plate yet but the gap between the tabs and flange is about double the thickness of the backing plate so the tension provided by the spring washer seems like it would be beneficial. I suppose I'll have to re-use the ratty old ones but OCD me wants to install new washers.

Yes, fair enough, need something to fill the gap. The curved tension washers allow a variation in gaps to still work. You could use something more exact if you had it.

Actually, I take it back, looked at mine and has a thick rubber washer instead for same reason. I don't remember doing that.

Thanks Tom. Can't find an exact match, but the 320-piece assortment might have something that would work.

My go-to store for parts like this, Ace Hardware, didn't have anything. Neither did the 4 auto parts stores I checked with, although NAPA had similar style washers but were too thick. I know I've seen this style part in the past, I'm kind of surprised that they are that hard to find.

Have you tried a local Handy Ace Hardware store?  Never know.

I used them just last week for the 0.50" tapered plugs.  I had my order in two days.

Excellent! Thanks John. Part number 9716K88 has the closest dimensions to my originals (assuming they are OEM).
