Trunk lid rubber bumpers
« on: May 15, 2022, 04:16:54 PM »
Does anyone know the correct size of these bump stops? I bought them from Firebird central and they look kind of small. 5/16 height and about 7/8 diameter.

Says they are the GM originals in that ad. Parts numbers are molded on top but were 4872948 early on and 4767559 later. Possibly even had early numbers still cast into later number bags, same size.

1978 T/A round trunk bumpers: HJ4872948 BM 337. Year numbers vary?

Thanks guys!
I guess that's another bad repro part. Talking about my last purchase, rubber for front hood adjustment bumpers is also too small. Gas pedal is curved. Wasted money. Dome light lens seems ok, fits tight in the base.

What brand is the dome light lens? I don't think I've ever had one that fits the base, even with GM replacements, meaning cheap and nasty copies reissued in GM bags/boxes. Much other repro items are one size kinda suits many but often not accurate for many, but kinda work. And people buy them up big, not knowing, or caring as often better than what they had or were missing. And so they continue to cut corners and churn out rubbish at a premium price with limited classic car market as an excuse.

I bought some of the hood bumpers for my 77 from a vendor and they were crap! Like yours they were too small and just generic looking. On my 79 I did what I could to save the originals.
