Title: Windscreen demister duct
Post by: Wallington on December 02, 2022, 09:05:54 PM
Quick question for anyone who hasn't had their car pulled apart at some point, how did the factory secure the demister Y-duct vents under the dash. Here's mine from 15 years ago, I added the stud retainers to stop them rattling. There's assembly diagrams that show more of a blurry clip and a blurry part number that doesn't come up as recognised.

Hopefully someone has something. Both of my cars were apart.

If I remember correctly there was a piece of felt like material wedged in between.

Interesting, thanks. Anyone recall how held in place, or has car apart to look in that area?

The stud is kept in place with a stud retainer........The stud then goes through the hole from the back of the frame.....and a type of retainer is pushed onto the stud to keep the vent in place.

There wasn't any type of felt on mine when I took it apart.

Since I don't have anything like the original shaft retainer u-clip, I remembered that I had several spare door panel bird emblem retainers, same as rear speaker insulation box retainers. These also fit perfectly and can be released for removal easily if needed, unlike what I currently have to remove in the future.

Haha I wasn't really going for anything except conversation there, and finding an alternative to an unusual part.
