Title: Mecum Chicago 10/13 - 10/15
Post by: 5th T/A on October 18, 2022, 01:09:40 PM
Last weekend Mecum had their fall Chicago auction.

I had planned to attend the auction but managed to somehow screw up my back and could barely walk. So, I spent a good part of Saturday in front of the boob tube. Good or bad it seems to me the going prices were not as crazy as auctions I watched earlier this year. I guess the lower selling prices make this hobby a little more affordable for the average enthusiasts. Sorry about the poor photo quality, I was just taking screen shots off my TV.

This 68 GTO convertible seemed like a it sold on the low side.

This 68 GTO clone didn't sell for that much less.

The bidding stopped at 15K on this 79 TA.

It looks like it had a built small block Chevy.

This 1974 Formula 400, 4 speed got up to 45K, didn't meet the reserve.

I really only watched Saturday, so no idea what they had Thursday and Friday. At some point they mentioned they were selling three TATA's, but I do not know what they went for.

TATA's sold for mid 20's if I remember correctly. I agree the prices seemed to be a bit more in line. No offense to anyone here, especially if youre the one that bought the '80 for 29k, but I thought  that car was horrible looking. Not my cup of tea, but what the heck do I know! I was surprised to see something that customized bringing more money than some stock cars. Usually the other way around.

Sorry about your back, hope youre feeling better. I have never been but a buddy of mine goes to Mecum when they are in Harrisburg PA. He has a lot of fun there.

Good, as far as I'm concerned. *Shrug* I never wanna sell my '79. It's been my dream car since I was 19, and I'd rather have it than a Ferrari. Its value is irrelevant to me.

I like these cars to be more accessible to people.

Hope your back feels better, bud!
