Title: youtube mechanics
Post by: aussieta on December 18, 2021, 03:06:02 PM
who is your favourite youtube mechanics for a quiet time when you can sit back and watch someone else working
do you yell at the screen, telling them what is wrong and waiting for them to catch up
do you find yourself going, that was awesome, i never would have thought to test there
anyway, i started off with diagnose dan, a european mechanic, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR73yN7vT7-P541g2qlfRrg
then moved to scanner danner, https://www.youtube.com/c/ScannerDanner
now rainman ray, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7qMMY6UJHpNakTDMz6vVXQ
and my favourite pine hollow, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn4Ifss-t3wMT6VBzQoKPUA
and i cannot stand to watch scotty kilmer, https://www.youtube.com/c/ScottyKilmermechanic

I don't watch any "real" mechanics.

I love "Vice Grip Garage" purely for entertainment value.  I like the way the guy talks... really dry midwestern sense of humor.  I've definitely accidentally learned a thing or two watching his vids.

Serious question - Why do people not like Scotty Kilmer?  I don't think I ever watched an entire video of his.

Lots of good and bad information on the internet and in YouTube video’s. In my opinion it is hard to beat a good factory service manual. I think Haynes manuals are a waste of money.

I do enjoy Roadkill, Roadkill Garage and Engine Masters. Garage Squad and Vice grips Garage are good entertainment.

I do worry about someone trying to copy some of these shows and possibly hurting themselves or someone else. It’s one thing to get an old rust bucket that’s been sitting for years or decades running with minimal work. It could be very risky driving one at highway speeds for hours with rotted tires, fuel lines and brake lines.

Only time I ever watch u tube is when something here is referenced. I used to like to watch the garage squad, its pretty low on the drama scale as far as those types of shows go.

I've enjoyed Fast Monty, even picked up a few things.

couldn't name one, the few I've seen I wouldn't class their opinions as final or correct, more for entertainment. I think anyone that posts a video already rates themselves and think they need to be heard by others.

I've been watching vice grip garage https://www.youtube.com/c/ViceGripGarage
I like this guy, of course they are all staged but this guy manages to keep the cars going across country somehow.

cannot tolerate vice grip garage, i watched one show and cannot get it out of my head
it is like all of the other "hasn't been started in 200 years will it run" shows
just some fresh gas, new battery, pump up the tyres and more reliable than all other cars on the road
i like shows with a bit of diagnostic value, where you learn something or sympathise with the troubles the tech is having

I don’t particularly watch one or two channels. If I’m looking how to do something or information on something I do a search and compare. This helps with who knows more and sorts out good from the bad information out there.

I used to watch Eric the Car Guy a lot but not so much anymore. I like Pine Hollow too. My favorite guy to watch currently is Eric O. at South Main Auto channel. Klowny 1969 is very knowledgeable and entertaining, not to mention very funny.

You are all forgetting that all are meant to be entertainment. Each has an angle or theme that worked for them so they just make slight changes and carry on.
