Mechanical / Another High Torque Starter Question

ok, I'm installing the new 9510, and see my flywheel cover opening is not fully covered with the small starter - how did you guys solve that issue?

Ok so I guess some idiot (it was me) put the shifter brackets upside down on the transmission despite making a 2 minute recording of every angle so such a thing didn’t happen (I didn’t refer to the video once). Anyways car feels buttery smooth, really puts into perspective of how bad the previous clutch was performing. My input bushing was a bit tight which made it troublesome to install the bellhousing and had a rubbing sound but it eventually self clearanced since it is brass. I can’t say how good the clutch feels since it’s the only one I’ve ever had but it’s light and performs great. All my noises and what not are gone. Thanks.

Finally got it back on the road, clutch feels great and all my noises are gone. Lighter than the previous but that could be from a lot of things. And…… I don’t have second gear… sometimes. Seems I can’t shift into second when moving and it doesn’t feel solid shifting into it at a stand still. Think my ball detents are out of wack, for some reason the fork doesn’t want to move far enough. I didnt pull the gears apart so it should all be fine. Gonna drain the oil and rip the side cover off and hopefully fix this.

George took my car to his house after the 2009 Nationals. Kept it all winter, working his magic on it. Mission creep kicked in. The motor, trans, starter all come out and were rebuilt while he had it. Got it back in the spring of 2010.
It took 2nd place in S/E 2 class in 2010. Too many other George and JP stories to list here but the man will surely be missed. He was a friend to anyone that met him.

1976 Assembly has a diagram that shows an 1895 globe in the rally gauge pack.
1980 Assembly doesn't appear to have this diagram or list globe.
1976-81 Parts shows F-body dash with 1895 globe listed.

You’ve got a good eye- this is a non AC Trans Am that has aftermarket AC installed in it.  The brand is “Old Air” and leverages the non AC controls to run it.

Ah gotcha. I figured as much but wasn’t sure. Does it just operate off of the vent setting? Sounds like I was wrong about the bulb. Sorry to steer you in the wrong direction

No worries on the bulb - that’s by far the easiest item to deal with on this project.  Yes - the AC runs off of the vent controls.  It’s a pretty cool setup that was much cheaper than Vintage Air at the time.

Good news!  Got the speaker out the glove box side, after lowering the center vents.  Not sure if I could’ve done this entirely thru the glovebox side instead but there’s no way that speaker would fit thru the gauge cluster opening.  The bracket fits my replacement speakers too but the new bracket looks like it may be easier to install.  It arrives tomorrow - will decide what option to take then.

I want to say it’s the same as the other. 192? Your center vents look different than mine. I have the piece with the vent deflectors that change the direction of the air and nothing behind them but the plastic duct. As I mentioned, I think I took mine out through the glovebox area. My replacement speaker didn’t allow for the factory placement of the center vent ducts so I’m positive I removed it in the process.

I’m curious. You have center vents but what appears to be a non-AC HVAC control
