Title: 1980 Pace Car (Paint Can Question \ Interior)
Post by: d_hache on March 01, 2023, 09:04:58 AM
There is a 1980 Pace Car that came up for sale that i might go take a look at.
I was curious about the interior paints available for those Pace Cars.
I have seen a few of these and the white panels don't age to well.  They almost become yellow.
Can you get those colors in those SEM paint cans for interiors?
Thanks

In many situations they can be brought back to life somewhat and still look original, whereas very few look original if attempted to touch-up. Then, you have to do the trim next to it, and the next piece, then the rest will look out of place.

I think the interior was oyster not white. I would have to pull out my colour chart but I am pretty sure you can get sem close to original. I have never used the service but I have heard that a good auto paint store can mix up colours for the interior trim as well if need be.

Correct. There's possibly variations in any paints and dyes sold pre-mixed,  but do they match the vinyl or the plastic or the paint? Things to consider. It'd be a last chance attempt if the trim is bad and can't be saved.
