Title: Window sweeps
Post by: N PRGRES on March 13, 2024, 05:15:19 PM
How do you get to the screws for the exterior sweep?  Pull out the window?

Opposite. Drop the window. Move the lower stop down or remove, then sink the glass down past it.

Thanks. I was looking at it and thought that might be an option also.

Are you replacing them with OER sweeps or just cleaning up?

Wallington started this thread.  I feel it's very helpful.  See reply #2.  Not sure where Firebird Central gets theirs, but I tried 3 different vendors before I
found a set of OEM sweeps.

I saw that thread. I’m not sure either but it’s worth a shot.

Another member and myself put some relief cuts in the curve to get it to fit.  That worked but the sweep wouldn't sit flat on the glass.
Not sure witch style your getting but this is for the 1/8 SS bead.  Let us know how yours come out.

Got these in this weekend from Firebird central.  To me they look pretty spot on with maybe some very minor adjustment

No idea, i'll have to look at the packaging again.  Or just order from the same place....

There is nothing on the packaging to indicate who made it.

I'm glad you found a place that sells the correct profile.  Be sure the ends are bent in such a way that they don't rub on the door and scratch the paint.

I can't open the pics larger here, and in the other program it doesn't even show attached pics at all. Did you get round bead? That is again, a confusing seal to get, many don't mention what type of bead it comes with or automatically list that it suits both models. Many won't care, many do. For what it's worth all 70-81 Firebird came with the round bead, while 70-79 Camaro had the flat bead, switching to round bead for 80-81 for whatever reason. And those with decor trim, just rocking out and doing their own thing with no silly beads at all!

I have the round bead.  Firebird Central actually has a nice video on the site explaining the differences between them all and how to verify which ones you have
