Thinking about new tires for my 02. Currently has 275/40ZR17s. I like the look so I’ll probably stay with the same. Any recommendations for make/model of tire? Just a driver/cruiser driven almost exclusively in good weather. Look for decent wear, low road noise, and reasonable price. Thanks

All depends on what you want to do.
On my '98 Trans Am, I had good experience with BFG Comp 2 A/S (All season) tires but that's an all-season tire.
$141.99

On my '79 I have the BFG Comp 2 Summer tire. I have yet to drive on these so I can't give full analysis at the moment.
$184

If you want a good performance street tire that has track potential, look into the Falken Azenis RT615K+. This is the only 200TW treadwear tire available in 275/40-17. You could take this and do autocross.
$180

Thanks for your response. The Falkens are probably too much towards performance for my use. Although I don’t need an all-season they look good. Especially for the price. Thanks again.

I'm currently running Firestone firehawks on my Formula. Decent tire. I'm gonna be going to the bfgoodrich g-force sport comp-2's later this year. Not cause they're bad tires by no means. Their over 5 years old now and I'm looking for a more aggressive tire.

I run the Firehawks on my '01 Trans Am. It has good grip, last pretty long and rides nice.

Also recommend Firestone Firehawk Indy 500.
Great handling and supple ride.

I bought a set of the BFG g-force comp2 a/s for car. The tire dealer inflated them to ~32 psi. Seems low to me. The max pressure on the sidewall says “51 psi”. I thinking they should probably be at least 40psi. What do you guys run?

On the 98-02 Ws6 cars with 17x9.5s should be 30-32psi. There is a sticker in the door jam that tells you the tire pressure recommended. 40psi I think will be too much. Especially when the tire starts warming up and the pressure increases. You'll start riding more on the center of the tread. Hope this helps.
