Interior / Re: Finally some interior upgrades

My goal was to appear as close to "stock" as possible.  The original plan was to use the same fabrics as the 81, but the cost that SMS wanted for the material was way over my budget, so I went this route.  The seats also use a dark thread to pull in the dark maroon dash and center console.

Mechanical / Re: Coolant leak how to fix

Did you get it fixed? I just noticed  a small coolant leak collecting on the front of the my valley pan… mine was dripping from the back side of my thermostat housing and slowly making it down.
It seems like I have had three different thermostat housings that have had issues…. All aftermarket.

I have a chrome one that used to leak a lot, people suggest using only RTV and it seemed to fix, never had luck with a gasket. Going on a year or so since the repair and it’s dry.

Parts Review / Re: 76-78 nosecone support bracket repros
« Last post by roadking77 on Today at 06:15:15 AM »
Im not sure if I responded to this before but when I did my 77 I bought repros as mine were most indeed rusted (like just about everything else on that car). The ones I got were bent and were exact to the originals. But that was at least 10 years now, I probably got them from Ames.

Yes, anything repro is suspect these days. One would think that parts would only get better as manufacturers gain more experience and feedback over the years. It seems like everything is getting worse! And the supply is shrinking!!

That same panel, probably made by the same guys for all, were advertised by another of the big name shops claiming they had all 4 options possible. I asked what about the 5th option for 1981 models with demister light and different spacing. They got snotty, said clearly that was a custom overseas thing as they saw I was in Australia. I said absolutely not. So they blocked my messages. Meh. Probably all swirled backwards too.

Thanks for the photo's.  And yes they keep pumping out the wrong shape and keep selling.  I needed a Turned Swirl Silver Dash Metal Filler Plate.  Put it in and about a month later, since I only drive the car once every two weeks.  I noticed the
Swirls where 180* off.  Called C.I. and told them.  He pulled one out and he agreed and would check into it.  Never heard back.  Seems like someone placed the stamped plates in the finishing machine incorrectly.

After reading this post again, are you doing the brake bleeding by yourself? Or do you have a helper?
You should have two people performing this task, one pressing and holding down the brake pedal, then opening the bleeder, then close the bleeder while the pedal is still down, then pump and hold down and repeat the process. What I read, it sounded like you were trying to do this by yourself… just asking.  If you are doing this by yourself, then you’ll keep pulling air around/ through the bleeder because your not sealing off the system at each pressure change. Teflon tape should never be used around the bleeder.
I also wanted to make sure that your bleeder is facing up.. I heard of some trying to bleed their system with the bleeder facing down. I don’t want to come across as being condescending, just trying to cover all angles to help resolve the issue.

The Viking double adjustable shocks (361 possible combinations) can help reduce the stiffness of the GT suspension a bit depending on how you set them.

The adjustments aren’t very accessible though so I found one combo I liked and haven’t adjusted them in a few years.
