Power steering hose leak

I did a search but couldn’t fine an answer. I replaced my high pressure power steering hose because the fittings leaked. So after replacing the hose the fittings still leaked. My question  are the fittings supposed to be the O ring type or flange type, this is on a 79 with a 403.

My 79 has the flange type.  Make sure the surfaces where the flange mates to the receiver are very clean.  Any debris there will prevent a perfect seal.

No o-rings on correct original type.

Yes, and make sure you really tighten them well.  In the past I had to go back and add a little more muscle to them.

I had several defective hoses.. finally got a good set that sealed up... then proceeded to blow out the seals on the gear box.  NAPA took real good care of me on that gear box.  No problems since.
