At one point it was suggested to have both the flywheel and pressure plate balanced together.  I was surprised at the weight that was added to balance the unit.

Not to get side tracked but with the detail you put into posts Ben I’d honestly like to see you do a write up sometime on that  RHD conversion and what went into it.

I can’t begin to imagine what a project this would be. Did it require an entire firewall replacement? How did you convert the steering gear box? Heater box and AC case. Under dashboard and under hood wiring. Even an abbreviated explanation would be very interesting.

Many many years ago in the 70’s I worked in a transmission shop. The shop owners had a policy that when we replaced a clutch the flywheel got machined. If it couldn’t get machined it was replaced. This was done because they didn’t want any comebacks. A flywheel with hard spots is more likely to chatter.

The bucking back and fourth usually indicates a warped flywheel.
If it's the first time its being surfaced it should be okay.  When it gets too thin is when they usually warp easily.

Would make sense, flywheel was the only not so great looking thing. I didn’t check for warpage before I sent it out so hopefully it all gets worked out. I’ll just make sure to get it properly adjusted and all of that. I ordered new pressure plate bolts since someone must’ve changed it at some point it had miss match hardware which I’m sure is not helping, same with the tranny crossover but that’s not as important.

Thanks for all the input.

When I 4 speed swapped my car I bought a reproduction manual console. I’ve never attached it to the dash either. Not that I’m sure it would even attach properly. But it stays out with the screws under the console bin

Haha I'm not sure if it was even here or deleted, was confusing to explain and I gave up. I think.

Man, I missed the seatbelt one. I'll have to go look for it now.

That one actually peaks my interest.

Thanks!

So I spoke with Joe at TTAPERFORMANCE.COM today at great length.  I really appreciate his time and willingness to talk to me about this project. He had some good insights and if anyone doesn't know he is running 13 lbs of boost through the stock internals of his 301. So, we feel safe to run up to 7 lbs on pump gas (he is also running e85 but draw through).

He graciously offered to supply a duel outlet 1981 exhaust manifold to my project.

Well see how this plays out. I'd love to build this as I really think it will be a fun project.
