Shift light module for LS, dual stages
« on: April 19, 2021, 09:27:15 AM »
Greetings,

Looking to repurpose my 81 turbo lights as shift lights. One light will be always on, and I am looking to have the following:

rpm x or more: light 2 on
rpm y or more: light 2+3 on

Been searching for some module that would take the LS tach signal and give me these signals (preferably completing ground, because thats how the turbo lights worked)

So far I've been unsuccessful finding such appliance - any advice?

Might be able to use one of the various MSD RPM activated switchs.

That sounds pretty cool. Like a progressive shift light. I almost think you would have to build something yourself. Maybe look at Ardruino with some simple coding?

Thanks for the pointers! After my initial market research, I am going to need 2x https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-830449-1 or go with a custom board like Ryan suggests, that would be cheaper but I would need to do some custom electronics and programming work..

Cool idea!  Good luck putting it together.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

What about this progressive shift light? Not dual stage, but progressive.

Ryan, can you explain more what you have in mind?

Currently everything is wired and ready to go, just need something to control it..
