Title: I know it’s better to repair or replace the dash….
Post by: Wildcatter on June 02, 2022, 04:30:00 PM
…but in the meantime, does anyone recommend a carpeted cover or easy to slap on dash cap? Spending money on more important things on the car…. Like paint and tires.

A decent dash cap is 1/3 the cost of the repop dash - but how much is your time worth?

Well I’ve never removed a dash so I guess it comes down to skill more than time.

If you just want a quick cover up with the carpet pad that will be fine. No idea where to find them though, maybe Ames or NPD?

Easy to make or drop a template at local upholsterers, not everything needs to be bought and made to fit.

Nothing beats a perfect dash on a 1970-1981 dash. I just had the original in my 81 TA restored by Just Dashes. It adds instant value to the car, greater than the cost of having it done. When you get a chance, don't overlook getting the dash restored.
