Steering Column Redo

(1/3) > >>

roadking77:
Recently re-did my steering column. Tilt was nice and tight so all it needed was a cosmetic refresh. Take the switches apart clean good with contact cleaner and hope for the best. Collar was stripped then re-coated with VHT wrinkle paint.

Wallington:
Beautiful work.

roadking77:
Thank You. I expanded a bit in my resto thread, but I will add here. I put a coat of SEM colour on the collar, it 'melted' off the wrinkle paint! So I did that part twice. Second time around I put a coat of primer on first. Then the SEM. That did the job but with the additional layers of paint the texture was a bit obscured. SO, I think a third go round may be in the works. Also waiting on a new key switch before I get the collar re-installed.

Jack:
Great work Kerry but it might make sense to double check the wiring and maybe get a new neutral safety switch.

roadking77:
Wiring on the column is fine, but I think you may be right Jack, those parts arent that expensive. I did all new on the 77, figured a good cleaning might do the trick with these.
